If you are tired of the usual backpacker activities and want to treat yourself for a little while, then I can’t think of a better place than the Nirvana resort. It basically has everything you would want: incredible rooms; luxurious pools; fantastic eating options and a wonderful staff.
We paid $65 USD a night (we got a good discount due to off season fares) for a private double room which included a fantastic shower, 5.1 surround sound system with a plasma TV. The bed was heavenly.
The resort is really beautiful and has two pools – one with a nice cafe attached – and a lovely evening sunset watching spot where you can buy a beer and listen to live music as the sun sets. Simply stunning stuff.
The food is not included in the price and the attached restaurant is not exactly cheap but for what you get, it’s exceptional. The chef is french and shows a great ability to combine thai styles with modern European tastes.
In short, we loved every minute of our stay at Nirvana Resort. Admittedly, this is not something we do every day but since we had an extra week in Thailand and found such an incredible deal online for the Nirvana Resort, we just had to jump at it and splurge a little. In the end, we were incredibly glad we did.
