The Golden Place is a lovely, convenient and inexpensive hotel close to the beach in Khao Lak. Originally we were going to stay at the Khao Lak Youth Hotel but due to a problem with the A/C, the general manager, a lovely lady who expressed great concern for our satisfaction while staying in Khao Lak, upgraded us to the Golden Place free of adjustment charges.
The standard room had A/C, queen bed and a flat screen TV. Since we had upgraded for free from our room at the Youth Hotel, this was a great deal for 20$ a night.
There is an Italian pizza restaurant near by and easy access to the beach. The staff were friendly and kind in helping to point us to the bus station (about 2.5 km down the road) for our onward to Bangkok.
There are a number of high end resorts nearby. I don’t know why you would bother with them given such a nice and highly affordable place exists such as the Golden Place.
